2010 TVB/Tomato Head Race:
Mountain Bike Racing:
The team has really been tearing it up this spring with the SERC Mountain Bike race series, (Southeast Regional Championship Series www.goneriding.com ) with a lot of podium finishes.
JULY
HAW RIDGE XC RACE. JULY 25: Hot hot hot! the weather was steaming and the team was cooking it up on the trails! Joel got 1st in singlespeed, Scott got 2nd, Dan Schmiesing got 4th, Nancy passed out from the heat at the top of rainbow, Hollie got 2nd in women’s cat 2, and Andy Morgan opted for a cold beer instead of a 2nd lap. (wise choice). here’s some photos, pre-race/dehydration fest…
MARCH
- SERC race #1: (Southeast Regional Championship Series, )Â Â Gainesville, FL. Micah and Scott went, and Scott got second in single speed.
- SERC race #2: Chickasaw Trace, TN. Micah, Emerson, Eleanor, and Scott in attendance. Scott got 2nd in single speed and Eleanor won women’s sport class. She’s a real legend.
APRIL
SERC #3:Tsali recreation area in NC. Singlespeed brought Joel a first, with Scott close behind in 2nd. Micah finished single speed strong in 9th, and Drew (aka Nancy) got 5th in men’s sport. Lauren Breza raced beginner, Eleanor got 5th and Hollie got 6th in women’s sport.
SERC #4: April 25. Winder, GA. A 22-mile course. fast,flowy, and surprisingly well-drained. Drew took 2nd in sport; Emerson raced Clydesdale; Micah raced beginner due to mechanical problems (got 2nd); Scott got 2nd in single speed with Joel gunning after him for 3rd; Hollie got 1st in women’s sport.
MAY
SERC # 5: May 2. Huntsville, AL. Joel- 2nd in single speed. Scott- 3rd in single speed. Hollie- 2nd in women’s category 2.
SERC #6: May 16. Ducktown, TN. Tanasi trails. Hollie takes first place in Women’s Cat 2. Scott wins single speed with Joel a close second. Lauren finished second in Women’s Cat 3. Micah finished third and Shane fourth in Men’s Cat 3.
Haw Ridge 8-hour race: June 5. Josh Talley and dan Schmeising got 1st in the duo category. hell yeah.
Road Bike Racing 2010:
June 5. Roan Groan. Elizabethton, TN. Micah Reynolds got 6th in the under 35 category 5. strong strong strong!
May 15- State Road Race. McMinnville, TN. Tom King got a silver medal in 50+, Mike Crouch got 12th and Brian Watson got 32nd in Men’s Category 4.
May 9. Tomato headCriterium. Maryville, TN. Mike Crouch got 10th in Cat 4, Scott Smith got 4th in Cat 5.
April 24- Athens Twilight Criterium:. Athens, GA. Brian Watson placed 30th out of 62 and amazingly avoiding a crash near the end. keep it up, Brian!
March 27- Charter Communications Omnium. Tom King got 12th in 50+
Brian Watson and Mike Crouch placed 4th and 5th at the Criterium in Nashville. They have been training hard and it’s paid off.
Miscellaneous:
Some folks are doing mountain bike rides every Friday mornings out at Haw Ridge. Meet at the shop at 7:15am or at Haw Ridge at 8am.

Cyclocross! winter 2009-2010
So! we started the year off with a real bang. We’ve been cyclocross racing since December, but the team has grown a lot in the past few months; we’ve had up to 14 team members on the start line at once!
Cross-a-Nooga in Chattanooga: TVB represented! Drew on the podium in category 3, and category four (Brian,Scott) and single speed (Joel). All of our guys finished in the top half of the field, and some of the TVB ladies got their first taste of cyclocross, finishing in the middle of the small pack, on this sunny but chilly course. It got to 13 degrees but we were all smiles!Also in attendance were philip burgess, Lauren “cool breeze” Breza, Dan Shmeising, and Dave Lane. Pictures to come soon.
Johnson City State Championships: TVB tore it up again! a bunch of us made the icy drive to Johnson City for this fun-filled weekend! After a night of family-style dinner, dance party, and general fun in a cabin surrounded by snow on a full moon night…. Category four brought Brian the gold medal and Scott the bronze. Eleanor McDonough took the field by storm on her first cyclocross race ever. She was changing clothes drinking hot cocoa by the time second place crossed the
finish line;Â Hollie ended up with a bronze medal. Shane, Micah, Emerson (wearing a “party naked” midrift shirt), Scott,Joel,and Drew represented in the single speed.
Knoxiecross madness:
Every Saturday and Sunday in Februrary we got our bums out of our warm cozy beds to go race in the cold, snow, mud, and general awesomeness that is win ter in East Tennessee! There were 8 races total.  TVB represented, dominated (at least in numbers) and got first in fun.
Overall Knoxiecross Results:
Men Category 3:Â Joel-1st, Brian-2nd, Drew 4th, Scott 7th.
Women’s category 4: Eleanor 1st, Kat Campbell 2nd, Hollie Ernest 3rd. TVB 1,2,3! podium sweep! what now?!! ughhhhh.
Men’s category 4: Carleton 1st, Dave Lane (adopted team member) 4th, Russ Mareck 5th, Shane pack 8th, Micah Reynolds 10th, Matt Kellogg 11th, Emerson Fuller 18th
Single speed: Joel Marshall 1st, Carleton Lane 2nd, Scott Smith 4th, Drew McIntosh 6th, Shane pack 7th, Micah Reynolds 13th, Brian Watson 9th, Emerson 16th, Eleanor ‘the legend” McDonough 23rd.
2009
TVB Race had a great showing for The 12 Hours of the Hill of Truth.
Give it up for Joey and the She Beastsfor their First place (that’s numba 1!) finish in the Rec Class.  Joey, Eleanor, Alix and Kaitlyn show ‘em how the newbies do it!
Congrats to Scott, Nancy, Carlton and Sconsin for their strong second place finish in the Open Class.
And the Worm Burners(Micah, Russ, Rich and Alex) podiumed in Sport in the second place slot.
